Shelley has been a native of Newport Beach for over 50 years. She attended Newport Elementary, Newport Ensign, and Newport Harbor High Schools. She enjoys staying in touch with many of her classmates today who still reside locally. Shelley and her husband, Dr. Elam, have been working side by side for over thirty years! Shelley and Dr. Elam are members at Newport Beach Country Club where they enjoy weekly golf outings with their children Alexandra and Michael. Shelley has served on the board of many noted Orange County Charities and has chaired many fundraising events to help support the community she loves so much! After years of supporting children and the arts she is currently involved with SoCal Bulldog Rescue and her heart is in saving animals and helping to provide them a forever home full of love!
Doug Packer is a Certified Surgical Technologist who has been working along side Dr. Elam since 1984. Doug is certified in basic life support, central supply, and sterilization techniques, and he has received a certification in surgical technology. Doug is responsible for assisting in all surgical procedures and maintaining the quality and high standards of all equipment in their fully accredited operating facility.
Doug enjoys spending time outdoors either fishing or hiking in the beautiful California region. Doug is a loving father of two and is proud to call himself a grandfather. Born in Pennsylvania, Doug moved to the West Coast at the young age of five and has called it home ever since.
John Schwab, M.D.
John Schwab, M.D. is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and is a long standing team member at Michael V. Elam, M.D., Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Schwab has worked side by side with Dr. Elam for almost 20 years providing excellence in anesthesiology and patient care. Dr. Schwab attended medical school at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas and finished his anesthesiology residency at Stanford Medical Center. Dr. Schwab has been happily married for 23 years to his wife Monica Aszterbaum, M.D., a Gynecological Specialist. They are the proud parents of two lovely daughters and a son who all attend Corona Del Mar High School. Their weekends are primarily spent driving to and from the many sporting events their children are involved in. However, in their spare time they enjoy cooking, entertaining, family dinners and especially their family vacations.
Samantha Dischner has been in the plastic surgery dermatology industry for fifteen years working in both the back and front office. She has been with Esthetica for over a year now as a patient coordinator and takes great pride in making sure every patient’s experience is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. She is a Southern California native who grew up playing soccer competitively, loves the outdoors and spending time with her friends/family and two rescue dogs. Samantha is a big advocate for animal rights and spends her free time volunteering at local shelters and supporting rescue foundations. Her outgoing personality and ability to connect to the patients makes them feel very comfortable during their surgical process and helps them feel at ease. This year will be the most eventful for Samantha yet as she is expecting her first child this August.
Kendel is one of our patient coordinators at our Newport Beach location,
where she loves to help her patients feel their best. She currently resides in
the Newport Beach area with her husband, Shane and their rescue dog, Dahlila.
Her hobbies include volunteering, running, traveling, and spending quality time
with her family.
Kendel grew up playing tennis which later led to her career in competitive tennis. After ending her tennis career Kendel believes finding her place in this industry was a “meant to be” moment. Her love for health and wellness has led her to her true passion for all things beautiful. She truly enjoys helping her patients step by step walking them through their surgical process with comfort and ease- creating an amazing experience for both Kendel and her patients.
Marci Hoover has recently joined our team and brings with her a decade of experience in the field of plastic surgery. She has extensive experience in front office management and especially enjoys the relationships she has with our patients. Marci will be with you from the time you walk through the door until Dr. Kouli releases you to enjoy your new results. She takes great pride in her work and will be here to ensure your experience at Esthetica of Newport Beach is beyond comparable.
Marci lives in Huntington Beach with her seven year old son, Mason. She enjoys spending her free time with her son, going on camping trips, learning how to fish and going to the skate park, all things boy! Marci is also learning how to cook and enjoys going to different farmer’s markets.
